What is high potential and gifted education?

Inspire – High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

In our classroom

In our classroom, we use the Inspire – High potential and gifted education strategies to guide and provide learning programs that challenge and inspire every student. We use assessment data and listen carefully to students' ideas and interests to make sure activities match their strengths and help them grow. Each child works on individual learning tasks designed just for them, so they can learn at their own pace and achieve their best. This approach helps us create a supportive and motivating classroom where all students can reach their full potential.

Across our school

At our school, we are proud to offer a range of Inspire – High potential and gifted education opportunities designed to challenge and inspire our students. In the classroom, students have access to individualised learning programs tailored to their strengths and interests, ensuring they are engaged and supported in reaching their full potential. Beyond the curriculum, we provide a variety of extracurricular opportunities such as enrichment clubs, environmental science, creative arts workshops, and leadership activities. These offerings allow our gifted students to explore their talents, develop critical thinking skills, and connect with like-minded peers in a stimulating and supportive environment.

Across NSW

The NSW Department of Education supports schools across NSW in providing quality programs for high potential and gifted students through the implementation of clear policies and guidelines, ongoing professional learning for teachers, and access to differentiated curriculum resources that enable the personalisation of learning for students. Assessment and data are used in an ongoing manner to inform learning and teaching, ensuring all students are challenged and engaged across all domains of potential—creative, intellectual, physical and social–emotional. This commitment also includes evidence-informed procedures and practices, collaboration with families and communities, and regular monitoring and review of policy implementation to optimise the growth, achievement, and wellbeing of high potential and gifted students.
